Blog article" href="http://danielsmithblog.com/2010/05/11/why-replace-cadmium-with-cadmium-hues-introducing-our-new-daniel-smith-cadmium-hues-for-watercolor/"><span style="color: #800080">New Cadmium Hue Watercolors</span></a></strong> to replace our cadmiums with safer formulas that provide all the density and richness of classic cadmium colors.  Our hues are virtually identical in color to their namesakes, but cleaner in mixtures and stronger in tints, a little goes a long way.  Our Cadmium Hues working properties (staining power, semi-transparency and excellent light fastness) are also nearly identical to those of the low-soluble cadmium colors we previously offered.</div>

<div>You&#8217;ll notice on the tube that our <a id="tnin" title="Cadmium Orange Hue Extra Fine Watercolor by DANIEL SMITH" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/Item--i-284-600-220"><strong><span style="color: #800080">Cadmium Orange Hue</span></strong></a> is labeled as a mix of three pigments, but because of a process called &#8220;<strong>co-precipitation</strong>&#8220;, the three pigments are essentially melded together and the result acts as a single pigment.  In this case, it is not true that 1 + 1 + 1 = 3, but rather 1 +1+ 1 = 1. This is a reason why our <strong>Cad Orange Hue</strong> is brighter than a mix of multiple pigments would usually be.</div>

Blog article" href="http://danielsmithblog.com/2010/05/11/why-replace-cadmium-with-cadmium-hues-introducing-our-new-daniel-smith-cadmium-hues-for-watercolor/"><span style="color: #800080">New Cadmium Hue Watercolors</span></a></strong> to replace our cadmiums with formulas that provide all the density and richness of classic cadmium colors.  Our hues are virtually identical in color to their namesakes, but cleaner in mixtures and stronger in tints, a little goes a long way.  Our new <strong>Cadmium Red Medium Hue</strong>, is just slightly different since <strong>Cadmium Red Medium</strong> is naturally a little brownish, and we did not want to replicate that muddiness.  Our Cadmium Hues working properties (staining power, semi-transparency and excellent light fastness) are also nearly identical to those of the low-soluble cadmium colors we previously offered.</div>
