<div> </div>
<div><strong>Sennelier</strong> selected their <strong>110 Acrylique paint</strong> <strong>colors</strong> from their <a id="ygiw" title="Sennelier oil paint: tubes, sets and oil sticks" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/ItemList--Sennelier-Oil-Paints--m-94"><strong>Sennelier oil paint</strong></a> colors (145 pigments) plus 4 <strong>Interference</strong> colors and 6 <strong>Iridescent</strong> colors.  <strong>DANIEL SMITH</strong> is carrying the entire <strong><a id="fxx3" title="Entire Sennelier 120 colors of the Acrylique paint color line" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/Item--i-G-202-340">120 Acrylique paint color selection</a></strong>.</div>

<p>This past last week of July in preparation for our new <strong><a id="f26w" title="DANIEL SMITH" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/http://www.danielsmith.com/">DANIEL SMITH</a></strong> <a title="Request a DANIEL SMITH Catalog" href="https://www.danielsmith.com/catalog.aspx"><strong>2009-2010</strong> <strong>Reference Catalog</strong></a>, we had product training with Reps from <strong>Canson</strong> to show us their new <strong>Canson Infinity Papers:</strong> the &#8220;<strong>Best Paper now becomes the Best Inkjet Receptive Paper</strong>&#8220;.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>These <a id="m6_g" title="Canson Infinity Inkjet Fine Art and Photographic Papers" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/ItemList--Digital-Art-Paper--m-150"><strong><span style="color: #810081">Canson Infinity Inkjet Fine Art and Photographic Papers</span></strong></a> have recently been developed (over a period of several years) for &#8220;<strong>Technical Excellence&#8221; in Archival Fine Art Reproductions</strong>.  <strong>Canson</strong> has developed these <strong>Digital Art Papers</strong> using their famous archival printmaking paper (Rives BFK &amp; Etching Rag), watercolor papers (Arches Aquarelle &amp; Montval Aquarelle), pastel paper (Mi-Teintes) and a new Photographic Rag paper as the base for their <strong>Inkjet papers</strong>.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>It&#8217;s important to know that when you use these <strong>Digital Art papers</strong> you are using the SAME paper that <strong>Canson</strong> has been making for years, sometimes hundreds of years (the original company began making paper in 1492) for Artists.  So the <strong>Digital Arches Aquarelle Rag</strong> is the same as the watercolor paper and so on.  The <strong>Canson Infinity</strong> comes in:</div>
<ul>
<li>
<div><strong>Canson Infinity </strong><strong> </strong><a id="ufvc" title="Arches Aquarelle Rag" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/ItemSearch--search-Digital-Arches-Aquarelle-WC-Rag--srcin-1"><strong>Arches Aquarelle Rag</strong></a>.</div>

<div><strong>Canson Infinity </strong> <a id="nlza" title="Canson Edition Etching Rag " href="http://www.danielsmith.com/ItemSearch--search-Digital-Edition-Etching-Rag--srcin-1"><strong>Canson Edition Etching Rag</strong></a>.</div>
</li>
<li>
<div><strong>Canson Infinity </strong><a title="Canson Mi-Teintes Pastel Paper" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/ItemSearch--search-Digital-Mi__Teintes--srcin-1"><strong> </strong><strong>Canson Mi-Teintes</strong></a>  (This is the only inkjet pastel paper).</div>

</li>
</ul>
<div>There is even a variety pack called the <strong><a id="hli9" title="Canson Infinity Discovery Pack" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/Item--i-159-950-021">Infinity Discovery Pack</a></strong> so you can try out all of the above types in 8.5&#215;11. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>If you are making <strong>Digital Fine Art Reproductions</strong> of your original pastel painting, then it makes sense to use the Digital <a id="e8g6" title="Canson Mi-Teintes 8.5x11" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/Item--i-159-950-017"><strong><span style="color: #810081">Canson Mi-Teintes</span></strong></a> paper, and so on for each of the different mediums.  The <a id="yl2c" title="Canson Infinity website" href="http://www.canson-infinity.com/en/index.asp"><strong>Canson Infinity</strong></a> website has very extensive information about these papers including an <strong><a id="x24y" title="Ink Jet Printer compatability chart for Canson Infinity papers" href="http://www.canson-infinity.com/en/printer_compability.asp">Ink Jet Printer compatibility chart</a>.</strong></div>
<div> </div>
<div><strong>Canson Infinity</strong> Digital papers are designed to provide Artists with proven, traditional archival papers to use when making Fine Art Reproductions.  We are happy to now have these available at <strong><a id="cdxc" title="DANIEL SMITH" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/">DANIEL SMITH</a></strong>.</div>

<p>There was a time machine at the <strong><a id="i:50" title="DANIEL SMITH website" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/">DANIEL SMITH</a> </strong><strong><a id="op:w" title="DANIEL SMITH Seattle Store location" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/store-locations.asp#seattle">Seattle Store</a> </strong>yesterday when <strong>Annie Van Engelen</strong> was conducting a &#8220;Hands On&#8221; special event &amp; <strong><a id="ok1q" title="Seattle DANIEL SMITH Free Demos and Special Events" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/learn/default~art~classes.asp">demo</a> </strong>for the new <strong><a id="k7.6" title="DANIEL SMITH ExtraFine Watercolor Sticks" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/products.asp?sku=285+252+001">DANIEL SMITH ExtraFine Watercolor Sticks</a> </strong>&#8230;that took everyone back to kindergarten! </div>
<div> </div>
<div>The new <strong>DS Watercolor Sticks</strong> seem to bring out the playfulness in people when using them, and there was a cheerful, sense of fun when everyone began playing with the <strong>Watercolor Sticks</strong>.  People were at the tables with paper trying out the various techniques that Annie had shown and talked about at the beginning of the demo. </div>

<p>I moved around from table to table chatting with different people about what they were finding interesting about painting/drawing with the <strong>Watercolor Sticks.  </strong>They were trying out different <strong>watercolor brushes</strong> such as the <a id="rhq_" title="Niji Waterbrush - comes in small round, medium round, large round and flat 12mm" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/products~sku~266+112+011.asp"><strong>Niji Waterbrush</strong></a> (a hit!) and on different watercolor papers like <a id="fv5o" title="Yupo papers" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/subcat~cat~450215304401.asp"><strong>Yupo</strong></a><strong>.</strong>  I saw a wide range of fun, expressive artwork that people were creating while playing around with the <a id="j41o" title="DANIEL SMITH ExtraFine Watercolor Sticks" href="http://www.danielsmith.com/products.asp?sku=285+252+001"><strong>DANIEL SMITH ExtraFine Watercolor Sticks</strong></a><strong>&#8230;</strong>yep, everyone was playing like they were kids again making Art!</div>

<div> </div>
<div>To introduce them, we have them in a 6 stick pack for $68.95.  The colors are:  Hansa Yellow Medium,  Quinacridone Coral,  Sap Green,  French Ultramarine,  Burnt Umber, and  Quinacridone Burnt Orange.  </div>
<div> </div>
<div>You can make very expressive lines when you &#8220;draw&#8221; with the <strong>Watercolor Sticks</strong>, then using your wet watercolor brush dissolve the line into color with your brushwork.  You can apply the Watercolor Sticks to wet or dry paper for different effects.  Wetting the end of the watercolor sticks and drawing directly onto your paper makes a different line, and you can take up color onto your watercolor brush by drawing it across the the tip of the wet Watercolor Stick.  The Watercolor Stick can be used on your palette by dissolving a bit off the tip in water from your palette&#8217;s well, and&#8230;..? </div>
<div> </div>

To be ready for your questions about new products in this catalog, we had training sessions last week for the <strong>DANIEL SMITH Call Center</strong> and <strong>DANIEL SMITH Store</strong> sales people. Our trainers, <strong>Thom Wright</strong> and artist <a href="http://web.mac.com/slack2slack/iWeb/Slack%20Illustration/Home.html"><span style="color: #6699cc"><strong>Jennifer Phillips</strong> </span></a>did a great job filling everyone in on the benefits of the new products so we could pass them on to you, and pointed out the terrific values of the items that are now ON SALE for you!</p>
<p>There are a couple of new <strong>DANIEL SMITH Paints</strong> being introduced in this catalog. Two<strong> </strong>new<strong> <a href="http://www.danielsmith.com/categories/paint/watercolor/ds/default.asp"><span style="color: #6699cc">DANIEL SMITH Extra Fine Watercolors</span></a></strong>: <a href="http://www.danielsmith.com/products~sku~284+600+202.asp"><span style="color: #6699cc"><strong>Smalt Genuine</strong> </span></a>and <a href="http://www.danielsmith.com/products~sku~284+600+201.asp"><span style="color: #6699cc"><strong>Perylene</strong> <strong>Violet</strong> </span></a>(everyone attending got tubes to play with!) a very beautiful blue and a juicy reddish violet on page 3. Also, a new <a href="http://www.danielsmith.com/categories/paint/oilColor/ds/default.asp"><span style="color: #6699cc"><strong>DANIEL SMITH</strong> <strong>Original</strong> <strong>Oil Paint</strong></span></a>: <a href="http://www.danielsmith.com/products~sku~284+300+144.asp"><span style="color: #6699cc"><strong>Cadmium Red Medium Hue</strong> </span></a>&#8221; offers an &#8220;alternative to classic Cadmium Red. It&#8217;s a vibrant, strong primary red&#8230;an organic color, it has high chroma and strong opacity&#8221;, on page 23.</p>
<p>A couple of other things that caught my eye during the training session I attended. The first was the new <a href="http://www.danielsmith.com/search.asp"><span style="color: #6699cc"><strong>Atria Stainless Steel Brush Washers</strong> </span></a>in three sizes on page 59, they are airtight to prevent odors and spills. The other was the new <a href="http://www.danielsmith.com/products~sku~679+010+011.asp"><span style="color: #6699cc"><strong>A-Frame Studio Easel</strong> </span></a>on page 95. which has a wood tray to brace the legs and provides some storage, and tilts both forward and back.</p>
