How to choose?

We had an avalanche of Valentine’s Day Cards (and emails) asking us to “Be Mine” and choose them! And there were so many cute cards, funny Valentine’s, pretty ones, painted ones, drawn ones, carved ones, even sparkly ones!

Well…in the end a choice had to be made, and we were seduced by a pair of glorious red poppies painted by Anita H. Lehmann.

All cards must be received by Friday February 12, 2010 to be considered for the award. Offer subject to change without prior notification. Enter as often as you’d like. Only one winner will be selected. No purchase necessary to win. All submissions must be original artwork. Images and/or slides become the property of Daniel Smith and will not be returned. Permission will be obtained and recognition provided for all published submissions. Winner will be announced February 19, 2010.

*Update 1/7/10 Answers to customer questions: “ The paper size should be a maximum of 5″ x 7″ not restricted to ‘cards’. We would like to see the use of Watercolor sticks in your submission, but multimedia submissions will be accepted.”

Handmade Holiday Card Contest winners!

We know the Holidays are a very busy time of year for everyone, and we appreciate the Artists ( Thank You! ) who took the time to create a Handmade Holiday Card to send us, and enter our Handmade Holiday Card Contest!

While we did not receive an “blizzard” of cards, we are very happy with the Holiday Cards we did receive, and we are going to share the winners with you now….

Our Winner is Cherylyn Bredemann from Illinois, with her “limited edition ‘Gocco print’ …with hand mixed metallic inks. A little birdie… [with] handpainted accents in the leaves…splattering of festive red, golden acrylic paint and to top it off a bit of gold spray.” Cherylyn even documented making it on her blog, VERY cool Cherylyn!

We Want to “Deck the Halls” at DANIEL SMITH so We’re having a Handmade Holiday Card Contest!

Handmade Holiday Card Contest

The Holiday Season is soon to be here, and to get everyone in the Holiday Spirit, we want to “Deck the Halls” of DANIEL SMITH with Handmade Holiday Cards!

We would love to see Your Beautiful, Handmade Holiday Cards on display at our DANIEL SMITH Stores. To make it more exciting, we are having a contest with a $50 DANIEL SMITH Gift Certificate for the Winner, and a $25 DANIEL SMITH Gift Certificate for each of the two Runner’s up!

So send us your Handmade Holiday Cards as soon as possible, and we’ll start to “Deck the Halls” here at DANIEL SMITH! We will announce our Winner and two Runner’s Up at noon on Tuesday, December 8th on the DANIEL SMITH Blog, Facebook and Twitter. So all Handmade Holiday Cards must be mailed to us, and received by Monday, December 7th to be eligible.

Through out our Handmade Holiday Card Contest, we will post many of the submitted Handmade Holiday Cards on the DANIEL SMITH Blog and on a Facebook Album to share with our Online Artist Community as well as everyone who visits our Stores…that will get us all in the Spirit! Here is a recent post with easy Blockprinting idea for making Holiday Cards to get your creative juices going!

Rules for entering:

Original Handmade Holiday Card (no reproductions)
Two dimensional only
Sizes: Standard Card sizes up to 5×7.
Up to 2 entries per person.
Cards must have complete name of artist on the back of each card.
Mailed cards must include our Release Form filled out and signed.
Winners will be chosen by DANIEL SMITH.
Cards become the property of DANIEL SMITH – and will not be returned.
Contest expires December 7th, 2009.
